Healing 'HUB Syndrome' 

Do you suffer from HUB syndrome??
  I ask because I woke up this morning with a really severe case of it. 

You may not have heard of HUB syndrome but it's remarkably common ailment.  Possibly even a pandemic, here on Earth.

It's my impression that everyone is prone to mild attacks of it on a regular basis.  But sometimes, like this morning, it can be very severe and debilitating.
 

For those who may not be familiar with HUB syndrome - its symptoms may include:

  • A sense of hopelessness and doubt
  • A good measure of self-loathing
  • A sense of being stuck in a dark and scary place.
  • A tendency to see only the negative and fearful
  • An over-whelming desire to consume gargantuan amounts of chocolate and/or wine, if you are a woman
  • An irresistible impulse to 'fix' everyone and everything, if you are a man
  • The temptation to work really, really, really hard to numb the discomfort
  • The back of the right hand apparently super-glued to the forehead and a look of martyrdom on the face
  • And finally, the fixed belied that you are absolutely the only person on earth who is actually suffering from this painful condition

It's just possible that the last criterion is a purely personal variation of mine!! 

Does all or some of the above sound familiar?  Did you wake up with HUB syndrome today?
 

What does H - U - B stand for?  If you haven't guessed it by now, the HUB stands for Head Up Butt! 

I have a sense that Head Up Butt syndrome is far more common that we realize.  Probably because of its unpleasant symptoms, many people try to hide the fact that they are suffering from it.  Some try to distract themselves by eating buckets of ice cream and watching TV.  Others prefer serious self-flagellation. 

Despite its seeming seriousness, we shouldn't be fooled by HUB Syndrome.  Its not serious - its not even real.  Its just an attempt by the 'mini me' ego to keep you feeling small and miserable.

If we take ourselves lightly we can float above even the worst HUB attacks.  But while we feel we are getting something out of being a sufferer of HUB Syndrome, we will want to hold on to it.

What do we want:  Pain or joy?  Love or fear?  

You will be very happy to hear that HUB syndrome has a very simple cure ONCE we willing to take it
.  
 

Step 1. Recognition

You recognize that you have stuck your head up your butt again.  The view is not good. 

Step 2. Action
You immediately exercise your power of choice.  You ask for help to remove your head from your butt and return it to the fresh air and sweet horizons of your happy world. 

Step 3. Purpose
You remember your purpose or function is far more important than any silly trick your ego tries to pull on you.  You came to help the world .  You cannot take your place if you have your head stuck in the dark! 

The very simple cure is this.  Take a deep breath and do one or more of the following:


  • · Forgive someone. 
  • · Reach out to help someone. 
  • · Phone a friend. 
  • · Stop pretending your ego has anything useful to share with you
  • · Tell your family how much you love them. 
  • · Offer a hug to a stranger. 
  • · Buy the homeless person a sandwich
  •  Take a step towards your purpose
  • · Remember God doesn't make junk!
  • · He loves you more than you can possibly imagine right now
  • · Say 'thank you, God' and let His Love in.

You have a God-given right to happiness and love. There is nothing to fear.  It’s just your ego – your inner ‘mini-me’ – talking rubbish … again.  Don’t be fooled by it.  Don’t buy into it. 

Always remember that you are made of love - and nothing else.  Have a lovely loving day!!
